    Hey Philippe,

Planning an event with ~20 speakers hooked to a RME interface, I wonder how would you approach safety of such a system in terms of avoiding feedback loops and glitches in the performance scenario.

Normally, there’s a FOH console and an engineer over everything that could react if anything bad’s happening.
But with a multi-speaker array directly on RME, especially if running off of the same computer as LL, this is becoming a really weak link.

In case anything happened, getting to a desk, grabbing a mouse and fiddling with RME’s on-screen mixer seems like a recipe for a trauma. I guess I could have another dedicated mixer hooked via midi to RME. It doesn’t seem there’s any equivalent of a simple physical mixer solution to put between RME outputs and speakers array – or if something like that exists, it’ll be probably in super-beefy mixers.

Newer gear has hardware anti-feedback detectors, there are also some plugins for that, but I have no idea whether and how would it fit the LL ⇀ RME ⇀ Speakers chain. IDK, maybe as a Master insert?

I know you’ve done quite a bit of things like that and also use RME’s, so wonder what you’d suggest.
    Thx

    Hi,
The master output limiter is designed for that !
And, I suggest that you connect a midi remote to the master Mute and master fader level.
With that you should do it in a safety way.

You can also remote the RME totalmix level with an external midi controller.
All output faders can be move as one group.

Makes sense. Thanks for your input.
